The Olympics: where legends are born
The adidas Olympic heritage stretches back to 1928, when adidas founder, Adi Dassler, created custom spikes and shoes for athletes in the Amsterdam Games. Since then, the Olympics have been closely linked to the adidas brand and we have been there over the past 80 years supplying the most innovative and inspirational products to help our athletes achieve the impossible. Olympic legends including Jesse Owens, Emil Zatopek, Wilma Rudolph, Nadia Comaneci, and Haile Gebrselassie all marked significant and memorable milestones in athletic achievement wearing adidas products. The 2008 Beijing Olympics is the biggest and most impressive Olympiad ever. adidas will outfit over 3,000 athletes, 16 National committees, 214 country Federations and producing over 500,000 pieces of sporting equipment, adidas is taking centre stage this summer in Beijing, celebrating our passion for sport and innovation, while helping our athletes and inspiring our consumers to achieve the impossible.
